Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has summoned Russia's Ambassador Mikhail Yevdokimov to the ministry over attacks on Azerbaijani facilities in Ukraine.
The Foreign Ministry's Press Service reported that during the meeting, a strong protest was lodged with Russia regarding an attack on a SOCAR fuel depot located in Ukraine's Mykolaiv region on the evening of July 5 using an unmanned aerial vehicle, and an official note was presented.
It was noted that this is not the first incident targeting SOCAR facilities. Previously, a gas compressor station belonging to the company in Ukraine and an oil depot in Odesa were also subjected to attacks. As a result, significant material damage was caused, and company employees were injured.
Azerbaijan emphasized that despite repeated warnings, the recurrence of such incidents raises serious concerns about the deliberate nature of the attacks.
The meeting also addressed air strikes that damaged the buildings of Azerbaijan's embassy in Kyiv and the honorary consulate in Kharkiv. Attention was drawn to the importance of ensuring the inviolability of diplomatic and consular representatives and compliance with international law, including the requirements of the Vienna Conventions.
The Foreign Ministry called on Russia to conduct a comprehensive investigation into all stated facts, provide official explanations for the incidents that have occurred, and comply with international obligations regarding the security of civilian facilities and diplomatic representations.
