President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent a letter of condolence to the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Tufan Erhürman.
Jnews.az reports that the head of state expressed his deep condolences to Tufan Erhürman, the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, as well as to the people of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in connection with the loss of life resulting from the shipwreck near Girne.
President Ilham Aliyev wished the injured a speedy recovery.
A passenger ship sank near Girne
It should be noted that on August 30, a passenger ship sank near the coast of Girne in Northern Cyprus. There were 267 people on board. As a result of the incident, 8 people died, and the search for 18 people continues. Meanwhile, 241 people were rescued.
The ship was traveling from Girne toward the port of Taşucu in Türkiye. An investigation into the causes of the accident is underway. Relevant authorities from Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are participating in the rescue operations.
