Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the country is ready to independently fund the construction of a railway section leading to the border with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
According to Pashinyan, the project will be implemented under Armenian legislation and sovereign jurisdiction. Armenia has already begun preparatory work on the restoration of railway lines toward the borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan.
Earlier, the head of government stated that the construction and restoration of infrastructure on sections leading to the border with Nakhchivan and Turkey will be fully funded from the state budget.
It should be noted that this refers to the restoration of the railway section from the direction of Yeraskh to the border with Nakhchivan. Pashinyan had previously stated that work in this direction would be carried out by Armenia.
The Armenian side presents the restoration of railway connections as an important project in terms of opening transport communications in the region and expanding the country’s regional transit capabilities.
