US President Donald Trump shared an article dedicated to the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia on his "Truth Social" account.
Jnews.az reports that the author of the article is US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. The article titled "How Trump turned a frozen conflict into a model for peace" was published in the Washington Examiner.
Witkoff writes on Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process
In his article, Witkoff discussed the progress made toward resolving the decades-long conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, linking this process to the diplomatic efforts of the Donald Trump administration.
He noted that the agreements reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia are an important step toward ending the long-standing confrontation in the region.
Witkoff characterized President Ilham Aliyev as a strong and decisive leader ready to make difficult decisions for the sake of peace. He called Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan a pragmatic and courageous leader.
The article stated that US representatives conducted intensive negotiations with Azerbaijan and Armenia, working on the practical implementation of the reached agreements.
Focus on TRIPP project
Witkoff also paid special attention to the TRIPP project, intended to develop transport links between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
He stated that the US is working with Azerbaijan and Armenia on railway engineering studies, public-private partnerships, and investment mechanisms for the implementation of the project.
According to Witkoff, TRIPP could enable the establishment of broader transport links across the Caspian Sea in the future and allow for the application of similar cooperation models in other regions.
Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize nomination
The article also noted that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Witkoff believes that the Azerbaijan-Armenia example can serve as a model for resolving long-term conflicts based on political leadership, diplomacy, and mutual interests.
