The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has released its latest report on Russian losses on the 1589th day of Russia's war against Ukraine.
According to the agency, the Russian army lost an additional 1,210 servicemen in the last 24 hours. This brings Russia's total personnel losses to 1,404,760.
The report states that over the last day, the Russian army lost 5 armored combat vehicles, 71 artillery systems, 4 air defense systems, 2 multiple rocket launcher systems, 5 ground robotic technical complexes, 395 vehicles and fuel tankers, 1,891 operational-tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and 1 special equipment unit. No changes were recorded for aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, warships, or submarines.
At the same time, the General Staff of Ukraine noted that in some cases, Russian aviation and warships destroyed or damaged as a result of sabotage outside Ukrainian territory are not included in this statistic. The Russian authorities, however, have stated that the casualty figures announced by Ukraine do not reflect the truth and have refuted this information.
According to independent calculations based on open sources, the confirmed number of Russian military personnel and pro-Russian armed groups killed in Ukraine exceeds 221,000. Additionally, the UK's Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) stated in its 2026 assessment that Russia had lost approximately 500,000 servicemen since February 2022.
According to the latest UN data, at least 15,400 civilians have been confirmed killed in Ukraine since February 24, 2022. Among the deceased are 800 children. Furthermore, more than 42,400 civilians, including approximately 2,600 children, have been injured. The UN emphasizes that these statistics only cover confirmed cases, and actual losses are likely higher. Ukrainian authorities, however, estimate that tens of thousands of civilians have been killed, particularly in areas under Russian control, including Mariupol, due to the impossibility of independent investigation.
