US President Donald Trump has announced that he will declassify intelligence materials showing China's attempts to interfere in the 2018 midterm elections and the 2020 presidential election.
Following this statement, Liu Pengyu, a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington, categorically rejected allegations regarding Beijing's interference in US elections.
Liu Pengyu stated: "China has never interfered in US elections and will not do so."
Trump described China's activities as "the greatest theft of election data in history" and emphasized that the relevant intelligence materials would be made public.
According to Reuters, the harsh accusations Trump leveled against Beijing could further strain the fragile political truce between Washington and Beijing.
