On July 27, a Kyiv court ordered the pre-trial detention of Vasyl Honcharuk, the organizer of the arms exhibition and head of the Armada association. On July 24, 11 people died as a result of a Russian missile strike on that exhibition.
According to Radio Liberty, Honcharuk will be kept in custody for 60 days without the right to be released on bail.
During the court hearing, the organizer stated that he fully understands his responsibility and emphasized that he is cooperating with the investigation.
The head of Armada is charged with official negligence causing the death of people (Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). If convicted, he faces up to eight years in prison.
As a reminder, on the morning of July 24, Russian troops attacked the Bucha district of the Kyiv region with three Iskander-M / S-400 ballistic missiles, one of which was intercepted by air defense forces. The total number of deaths reached 11 after another person injured in the missile strike died in the hospital.
