The Military Advocate General’s Corps of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has announced the results of its investigation into five serious incidents that occurred during combat operations in the Gaza Strip. The decisions were made after more than 150 incidents were reviewed by the IDF’s fact-finding assessment mechanism.
The incidents under investigation included the death of Palestinian girl Hind Rajab and members of her family in 2024, the killing of 15 emergency and aid workers in Rafah in 2025, as well as an attack in April 2024 that resulted in the deaths of seven World Central Kitchen workers.
According to the IDF’s decision, criminal investigations will be launched into two incidents. One of these involves the killing of Hind Rajab and her family, and the other relates to the killing of 15 Palestinian medical and aid workers in Rafah.
Disciplinary investigations will be conducted into two other incidents. As for the fifth case, it was closed after concluding that there were no grounds to initiate a criminal investigation.
The IDF also stated that a criminal investigation will not be opened into the April 2024 incident involving the deaths of seven World Central Kitchen employees in Deir al-Balah, Gaza. It was reported that while serious flaws were identified during the investigation, the decisions made by commanders—taking into account the information available at the time and operational conditions—did not give rise to reasonable suspicion of criminal conduct. Previously, two officers were dismissed from their positions and four senior commanders were reprimanded over the incident.
The IDF stated that the investigations were conducted to perform a legal assessment of exceptional incidents that occurred under complex combat conditions in Gaza.
