Israeli authorities have denied entry to Swedish Members of the European Parliament Jonas Sjöstedt and Hanna Gedin, who represent the Left Party of Sweden.
Jnews.az reports that the decision was made at the request of Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar in accordance with the Law on Entry into Israel. The lawmakers were planning to arrive in Israel to visit the Palestinian Authority.
According to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sjöstedt and Gedin have consistently taken positions against Israel in recent years and called for the initiation of international legal proceedings against Israelis.
The ministry also stated that in various public speeches, the lawmakers accused Israel of committing genocide, intentionally creating famine, and deliberately targeting children and medical workers. The Israeli side called these accusations «false».
