On Friday, August 21, a further rise in air temperature is expected across Israel.
According to the Meteorological Service, overall, readings will also be above the seasonal average in the coming days. Particularly in the mountainous and inland regions of the country, dry and hot weather will prevail. On the coastal plain, along with the temperature increase, high humidity will also persist. This will cause the air to feel more stifling.
Meteorologists classify the current heat stress in most areas as heavy to extreme. The highest temperatures are forecast to be recorded in the eastern and southern parts of Israel.
According to the weather forecast for August 22, temperatures are expected to rise to 31 degrees in Tel Aviv and Haifa, 33 degrees in Jerusalem and Ariel, 34 degrees in Beersheba and Mitzpe Ramon, 38 degrees in Katzrin, 39 degrees in Tiberias, and 40 degrees in Eilat.
By Sunday, August 23, the temperature is forecast to return to seasonal norms. However, by Monday, August 24, forecasters report that a new heat wave will begin. During this time, temperatures are expected to once again exceed the average levels for this time of year.
