President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Prime Minister of the State of Palestine Muhammad Mustafa on July 16.
The head of state expressed confidence that Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa's visit to our country will contribute to strengthening the fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Palestine.
President Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan supports the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Muhammad Mustafa, expressing his honor at meeting with the head of state, conveyed the greetings of Palestinian State President Mahmoud Abbas to President Ilham Aliyev.
The head of state expressed his gratitude for the greetings and asked that his greetings be conveyed to Mahmoud Abbas. President Ilham Aliyev recalled with satisfaction Mahmoud Abbas's visit to our country and his meetings with him within the framework of international events.
Muhammad Mustafa noted that a difficult situation currently prevails in Palestine and expressed hope that with the help of friends, it will be possible to overcome this situation. In this regard, he expressed his gratitude to the head of state for Azerbaijan's support for Palestine, as well as for the intention to provide humanitarian assistance through the construction of a secondary school in Palestine.
During the conversation, the opening of Azerbaijan's Representation Office in the city of Ramallah and the coverage of the expenses of Palestine's embassy in our country by the Azerbaijani state were assessed as indicators of the high level of bilateral relations.
During the meeting, it was recalled that as a result of the Conference on the Creation of the Islamic Financial Security Network held in our country in 2013 and the Donor Countries Conference on the financing of the sector plan for the development of the city of Jerusalem, Azerbaijan provided 5 million dollars in financial assistance to Palestine. It was emphasized that our country also provides assistance to Palestine through the UN's UNRWA organization.
It was highly valued that 23 Palestinian students under the International Education Grant named after Heydar Aliyev, and 37 in total, received education in Azerbaijan.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the head of state for this.
During the conversation, the issue of exporting some Palestinian agricultural products to our country on favorable terms was discussed, and views were exchanged on matters of mutual interest.
