Former head of Israel’s Mossad intelligence service Yossi Cohen stated that Iran’s underground Fordow nuclear facility was studied multiple times and extremely closely by Israeli intelligence. Speaking at the Galilee Conference on Tuesday, Cohen noted that the intelligence agency had thoroughly examined the Fordow complex.

During his speech, the former intelligence chief emphasized, «We walked through the Fordow nuclear facility multiple times to understand the site.» However, Cohen did not elaborate on what specifically he meant by this statement.

The former Mossad chief also commented on the air strikes conducted by the United States against the Fordow nuclear facility. Supporting this move by the US, he noted, «The Americans bombing the facility was all my dreams coming true.»

Cohen also touched upon the issue of Iran’s stockpiles of uranium enriched up to 60 percent. He stated that enriching uranium to this level does not mean the immediate realization of nuclear weapons development.

Built inside a mountain south of the city of Qom, the Fordow complex is considered one of the most important and heavily guarded facilities of Iran’s nuclear program. The facility’s underground location posed a significant obstacle for many years regarding potential strikes against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

The US targeted the Fordow complex in June 2025 as part of strikes carried out against nuclear facilities in Iran. US Air Force B-2 bombers were used during the operation, striking with GBU-57 bunker-buster bombs designed to destroy fortified underground facilities.
