According to the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a computer-assisted command-and-staff exercise called "Eternity-2026" will be held in November of this year under the host of official Baku.
A preliminary planning conference has already been held in preparation for the exercise. In addition to military representatives of the participating parties, officials from Azerbaijan's State Agency for Protection of Strategic Objects and Azerbaijan Railways CJSC were also represented at the conference.
Main objectives and directions of the exercise
The main focus of the "Eternity-2026" exercise is to ensure the security of regionally strategically important facilities and communication lines passing through the territory of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, as well as to organize their defence.
Within the framework of the planning conference, the parties discussed in detail the following important issues:
- Exercise subject and strategic objectives: Clarification of joint operational plans.
- Management mechanism: Determination of the composition of the joint headquarters and division of tasks.
- Tactical episodes: Coordination of scenarios and practical tasks to be performed during the exercise.
- Organizational and technical issues: Logistical and communications support necessary for conducting the exercise at a high level.
This exercise is of particular importance in terms of strengthening military cooperation between the three countries, increasing the mutual operational capabilities of military personnel, and preserving the regional security architecture.
