The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan (MFA) has expressed serious concern regarding the Israeli government's decision on the alleged "Armenian genocide".
The Ministry's statement emphasizes that distorting historical facts related to the 1915 events is unacceptable. It also condemns the transformation of complex historical processes into political decisions without legal and scientific basis.
"Such steps do not serve reconciliation and mutual understanding, but rather deepen existing contradictions and hinder efforts for lasting peace and reconciliation in the region," the MFA statement noted.
In this regard, the Azerbaijani side has called on the Israeli government to reconsider its decision.
The statement concluded by reaffirming Azerbaijan's consistent position in defending historical truths, respecting the principles of international law, and promoting lasting peace in the region.
