As part of the Israel Festival in Jerusalem, a cultural program titled ‘Verse’ was held, aimed at bringing together diverse opinions and voices in society. The event was organized at the Jerusalem Campus of the Arts and realized in collaboration with the Aner Shapira Foundation.
According to the organizers, ‘Verse’ is an initiative that combines art with social action and encourages people to actively listen to diverse perspectives in society, connect with one another, and express their views.
One of the main goals of the program is to create a platform for the diverse voices and perspectives existing within Israeli society.
As part of the event, music performances, screenings of short films, video installations, exhibitions, debates, and meetings with public activists are organized. Participants have the opportunity to exchange views on various topics and get acquainted with different perspectives.
The program also features an initiative called ‘Cafe Resistance’, where representatives of various public organizations meet with visitors to discuss projects aimed at bringing about change in society.
The ‘Drishat Shalom’ project is also presented within ‘Verse’, where designers, writers, poets, and event participants create postcards reflecting wishes for peace.
The initiative is also dedicated to the memory of Aner Shapira. A Jerusalem-born musician, composer, and activist, Aner Shapira was killed on October 7, 2023, while saving the lives of others during the Hamas attack. The foundation created by his family believes that art can unite, empower, and contribute to the healing process.
According to the Israel Festival program, ‘Verse’ also features music performances, presentations by photographers, plays, and special programs dedicated to the stories of Jerusalem residents.
