American actor and former politician Ben Jones has passed away at the age of 86. This was announced by his wife, Alma Viator. The cause of Jones’ death was an acute heart attack.
«Today I lost the love of my life. Ben passed away from an acute heart attack,» Viator wrote on her Facebook page.
Ben Jones gained his greatest popularity playing mechanic Cooter Davenport in the television series ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’. Throughout his acting career, he also appeared in projects such as ‘As the World Turns’, ‘Moonrunners’, and ‘Sliders’.
In addition to his work in film and television, Jones was involved in public service. Between 1988 and 1994, he served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
