According to international media reports, at least 58 government soldiers were killed and dozens of people were injured as a result of the attacks. The incident is considered one of the deadliest attacks in Yemen since the truce reached in 2022.
At the same time, the Houthis shelled Saudi Arabia's Najran region, located on the border with Yemen. According to Saudi officials, 11 civilians, including a young child, were injured in the attack. Citizens of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Egypt, and Pakistan are reported to be among the injured.
Saudi Arabia condemned the attacks as a gross violation of international humanitarian law and accused the Houthis of deliberately targeting civilians. Riyadh announced that necessary measures would be taken to ensure security in the region.
