Military representatives of Lebanon and Syria participated for the first time in the "Regional Strategic Partnership Dialogue" forum — an annual meeting organised by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) together with Washington's partners in the region.
The event took place in Manama, the capital of Bahrain. In addition to the Lebanese and Syrian delegations, representatives of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and the internationally recognised government of Yemen also took part.
The meeting was held at a time when the United States and Iran are conducting negotiations on the implementation of a memorandum of understanding — a process of significant importance for both regional security and the economy.
Leaders reaffirmed their commitment to free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
This is stated in the official CENTCOM statement issued following the forum.
