Armenian publication "Hraparak" has reported that Russia may impose new economic restrictions against the country.
According to the publication, this issue is being discussed in circles close to the Armenian government against the backdrop of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's visit to Yerevan.
The report states that in addition to Ursula von der Leyen, Marta Kos will also visit Armenia as part of the visit scheduled for July 1-2. The publication assesses this visit as a demonstration of political support for the Armenian authorities after the parliamentary elections.
"Hraparak" notes that Moscow has previously reacted to Yerevan's rapprochement with the West through export restrictions and other economic measures. If Armenia's cooperation with European structures deepens further, Russia may impose a second major package of sanctions.
The article emphasizes that possible sanctions will primarily negatively affect Armenia's business sector and overall economy. The Russian side has not yet made an official statement regarding this.
