As of July 1, a number of important changes come into force in Azerbaijan. Innovations covering various areas, from public transport to the pension system, from energy efficiency to military service, will affect the daily lives of citizens.

"BakiKart" price increases

The first change for public transport users concerns the selling price of "BakiKart". From July 1, the card's price will be raised from 2 manats to 3 manats.

The change only applies to newly purchased cards. No changes are foreseen in the use of existing cards.

Sale of incandescent light bulbs banned

Another innovation is being implemented to increase energy efficiency. The import, production, and sale of incandescent light bulbs with a power of 25-60 watts are prohibited.

The main purpose of this decision is to save electricity and expand the use of more modern, energy-efficient lighting devices.

Women's pension age increases

From July 1, the pension age for women will be increased again.

According to the new rules, the pension age will be raised from 64 years and 6 months to 65 years. This change is the final stage of the phased pension reforms implemented in Azerbaijan.

Baku-Balakan train schedule updated

Azerbaijan Railways is changing the train schedule for the Baku-Balakan route.

According to the new schedule:

  • Departure from Baku: 23:30
  • Departure from Balakan: 21:10

Passengers are advised to consider the new schedule when planning their trips.

July conscription begins

From July 1, the next conscription campaign for military service also begins.

The conscription and discharge process will be carried out between July 1 and 30. During this period, citizens who have reached conscription age will apply to military commissariats, and the procedures stipulated by law will be implemented.
