The 22nd Maccabiah Games, considered the largest international sporting event in the Jewish world, will kick off on July 1 in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel.
According to The Jerusalem Post, the grand opening ceremony of the competitions, known as the "Jewish Olympics," will be held at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem. Thousands of athletes from dozens of countries around the world are expected to participate in the ceremony.
During the two-week tournament, participants will compete in football, basketball, swimming, athletics, tennis, and other sports.
According to the organizers, more than 8,000 athletes from approximately 55 countries are expected to participate in the "Maccabiah-2026" Games. Athletes will compete for medals in 45 sports. The Games will be held in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Herzliya, Ra'anana, and other cities in Israel.
This year, the main slogan of the Maccabiah Games is "More Than Ever." The organizers state that the competitions serve to further strengthen ties between Jewish communities living in various countries and Israel through sports, culture, and youth exchange.
It should be noted that the Maccabiah Games were first held in 1932 and are considered one of the world's largest multi-sport events by number of participants. The opening ceremony of the Games will be held on July 1 at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem, and the closing ceremony will be organized on July 13 in Tel Aviv.
