An international conference organized by the Baku Initiative Group took place in Washington, the capital of the United States, at the Capitol building. The event was dedicated to the topic "Right of Return and Self-Determination: Double Standards and Selective Approaches."
Experts, human rights defenders, and representatives of the Western Azerbaijan Community participating in the meeting emphasized the importance of the right of Azerbaijanis deported from Armenia to return to their native lands safely, voluntarily, and with dignity.
Conference participants also called for an international investigation into the facts of the destruction of Azerbaijani cultural and religious heritage in Armenia.
At the end of the event, participants adopted an appeal to the US Congress. The document demands international support for the right of return of Western Azerbaijanis, the restoration of their property rights, and the protection of their cultural heritage.
