The area has been completely closed to tourists due to a large-scale wildfire in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park located in Indonesia’s East Java province.

The fire has been burning for several days and has spread to the caldera area of Mount Bromo. As part of safety measures, the national park management decided to suspend all tourist activities starting August 8. It has not yet been determined when the restrictions will be lifted.

According to the Associated Press news agency, the fire covered an area of approximately 176 hectares in the Bromo area. Hundreds of firefighters, police officers, military personnel, national park staff, and volunteers have been mobilized to extinguish the flames. Helicopters and drones have also been involved in firefighting operations. The steep and rugged terrain of the area makes it difficult to reach some fire hotspots.

It is reported that the fire destroyed at least 60 hectares of land.

It is noted that the wildfires expanded due to dry weather and strong winds.

Currently, main attention is focused on containing the fire. According to preliminary data, no casualties among tourists have been recorded in connection with the incident.

Mount Bromo is one of Indonesia’s most famous tourist destinations and is considered a main attraction of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The indefinite restriction imposed due to the fire is expected to significantly impact tourist flow.
