Israel has tested a new laser weapon system called "DroneLight". Unlike most existing laser systems, this device sends short and focused pulses to the target instead of a continuous beam. Thanks to this technology, only 1-2 seconds are enough to neutralize an unmanned aerial vehicle.
One of the main advantages of the "DroneLight" system is its high speed. The device is capable of destroying more than 30 aerial targets within one minute. This feature is crucial for repelling massive drone attacks, which can put traditional air defense systems in a difficult position.
The system can also send additional pulses after the first strike to ensure the target is completely disabled. This allows the device to instantly switch from one target to another, significantly increasing combat effectiveness.
"DroneLight" is effective at a distance of approximately 1 kilometer, which places it in the category of short-range defense systems. To identify and track targets, the system works in conjunction with radar, acoustic, and optical sensors.
Another important aspect of the device is its low energy consumption – only up to 4 kilowatts. This is significantly lower than many existing or developing high-energy laser systems. The low energy requirement allows "DroneLight" to be easily installed on mobile platforms, minimizing the need for additional power generators.
