Israeli police have discovered an underground tunnel dug from Palestinian territories towards Israel. The information was released by the Israeli police press service. The tunnel is located near the Az-Zayim checkpoint and is approximately 25 meters deep.
Security forces were immediately dispatched to the scene. During the operation, digging tools and various equipment were found and seized from the tunnel.
Based on DNA samples taken by forensic experts during the investigation, the identities of two suspects were established. One is a Palestinian resident of Al-Eizariya, and the other is a person approximately 30 years old living in East Jerusalem.
Both suspects have been arrested and handed over to the relevant authorities for interrogation.
According to the preliminary version of the investigation, the tunnel is suspected to have been dug for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities or illegally entering Israeli territory. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
