Portugal national team forward Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new record, becoming his national team's all-time leading scorer in FIFA World Cup history.
The 41-year-old forward achieved this historic feat in a 2026 World Cup match against Uzbekistan. He scored two goals in the first half, bringing his total World Cup goals to ten. By the end of the first half, Portugal was leading 3-0.
Thanks to this brace, Ronaldo surpassed the record of legendary Portuguese footballer Eusébio and now single-handedly leads the list of top scorers for the national team in World Cups.
Earlier, Ronaldo also became the first player in history to score in six different World Cups. He scored goals in the 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022 tournaments, and netted four goals in the 2018 World Cup.
