OpenAI, a pioneer in the field of artificial intelligence, is considering launching operations in Israel.
According to the Calcalist newspaper, the company has already hired a person to lead its activities in this direction. A new leader, transferred from Amazon, will head OpenAI's operations in Israel.
There are no immediate plans to open a research and development (R&D) center in Israel. The primary goal is to expand business operations and establish partnership relations with local high-tech companies.
By the end of the month, OpenAI is planning to hold a special event for Israeli startups in collaboration with AWS (Amazon Web Services). The event will showcase the artificial intelligence solutions the company offers for business clients.
Currently, a job posting for a specialist to work with clients in the Israeli high-tech sector is listed on OpenAI's careers page. Although the vacancy is formally listed under the Paris office, it is noted that the employee will operate in Israel and report to European offices.
OpenAI's international expansion strategy typically follows the same model: the company first begins operations in business and partnerships, and subsequently expands its technical teams by hiring engineers.
Currently, outside of the U.S., OpenAI operates only two research centers — in London and Zurich. Zurich has become one of the world's leading research hubs in the field of artificial intelligence due to its strong universities and scientific potential.
