An emergency meeting will be held regarding the potential deployment of additional US military aircraft at Ben Gurion International Airport in Israel.
According to reports from Israeli media, the US is considering sending additional aerial refueling and military transport aircraft to Israel amid rising tensions in the Middle East. As part of this proposal, it has been suggested that some of these aircraft be stationed at Ben Gurion International Airport.
The meeting will be attended by Israel's Minister of Transport Miri Regev, as well as representatives from the Israel Airports Authority, the Civil Aviation Authority, and other relevant agencies.
Israeli officials believe that stationing military aircraft at Ben Gurion Airport could significantly impact civilian aviation operations. Especially during the summer season, an increase in passenger traffic could lead to a shortage of parking spaces, flight delays, and the cancellation of some flights.
Currently, the parties are discussing various options to balance military needs with the uninterrupted operation of civilian aviation. One of the options under discussion is stationing the additional US military aircraft at Israeli Air Force bases instead of Ben Gurion Airport.
It should be noted that the US plan to expand its military aviation capabilities in Israel has come to the agenda against the backdrop of the ongoing tense security situation in the Middle East.
