Speaking to BBC Radio, Miliband stated that there are important intelligence and security ties between Britain and Israel, expressing confidence that this cooperation will continue.
The minister also described Israel’s decision to close Britain’s consulate in Jerusalem as a «regrettable and harmful» step.
Miliband noted that Britain expected such a decision could be made. According to him, Israel has previously been observed reacting similarly when other countries, including the Netherlands, imposed sanctions.
«I consider these retaliatory measures regrettable and harmful,» Miliband emphasized.
