Intensive work has begun on the restoration of the football pitch at the Baku Olympic Stadium (BOS). The work is being carried out as part of preparations for the Sabah football club’s home matches in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League.
Jnews.az reports that specialists have currently removed the previous upper layer of the pitch. A layer of sand is being applied to level the surface. It is reported that rolls of new natural grass turf have already been ordered for the stadium.
According to the work schedule, the pitch must be fully ready for use no later than October 5. If the work proceeds faster, the restoration is expected to be completed by the end of September.
Sabah will play its first match in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League away against English club Manchester United on September 10. The Azerbaijani champion will host its first home match in the tournament against Czech club Slavia Prague at the Baku Olympic Stadium on October 13.
