The death toll from the floods that occurred in the northern regions of Nepal last week has reached 903.
Jnews.az reports that this was announced by Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
According to the agency’s official report, rescuers have so far evacuated 10,461 people from the disaster zones. Despite large-scale search and rescue operations, thousands of people are still considered missing.
According to information from authorities, approximately 4.2 thousand people are missing, including 592 foreign citizens. Search and rescue operations are complicated due to the destruction of infrastructure and difficult access to the affected regions.
There is also serious concern regarding the fate of energy sector workers. As a result of the natural disaster, at least 933 hydroelectric power plant employees are believed to remain trapped in tunnels. Emergency services are continuing work to determine their location.
