Israel’s Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir stated that Israeli police have evacuated one of the East Jerusalem offices of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
Jnews.az reports that, according to Ben-Gvir, the operation was carried out at the UNRWA office located in the Kafr Aqab area, and the agency’s staff were removed from the premises. Israeli media also reported that security forces took control of the office.
Ben-Gvir accused UNRWA of ties to Hamas. The minister stated that Israeli authorities intend to assert sovereignty in Jerusalem.
These accusations are rejected by UNRWA, and the agency stated that interference with its facilities is contrary to international law.
