On August 13, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Dirk Lölke, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to the country. During the audience, the diplomat presented his credentials to the head of state.
During the conversation, President Ilham Aliyev recalled his official visit to Germany last month, pointing out that fruitful discussions were held on bilateral relations and international issues during meetings with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The head of state emphasized that the views of both countries align regarding regional stability, security, and development.
Touching upon the importance of the "Joint Declaration on a Strategic Agenda for Bilateral Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Republic of Germany" signed in Berlin during the visit, the Azerbaijani President stated that this document raised relations to a qualitatively higher level. He noted that opportunities in trade, investment, and business further strengthen strategic interaction.
For his part, Ambassador Dirk Lölke extended his congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev on the first anniversary of the Summit between Azerbaijan and Armenia held in Washington on August 8 last year. The diplomat stated that the German government was pleased with the outcomes of the Azerbaijani head of state's official visit and expressed hope that the planned tasks would be implemented soon.
Recalling that the peace agenda in the region was launched precisely on Azerbaijan's initiative, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that efforts in this direction will continue and that peace in the South Caucasus has now become irreversible.
The meeting also featured an exchange of views on the positive dynamics of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union, the utilization of the East-West transport corridor by German companies, as well as prospects for cooperation in traditional and renewable energy, and education.
