Israeli President Isaac Herzog stated that the relations established with Bahrain are an important model for the peaceful coexistence of Jewish and Muslim peoples. He emphasized the significance of these relations in terms of regional stability and cooperation.
Speaking at an event in Jerusalem, Herzog provided information about a one-hour phone call with the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. According to the president, the parties discussed regional issues, the pursuit of peace, as well as the fight against terrorism and hatred in the region. Herzog called the King of Bahrain a courageous leader who believes the Abraham Accords are the cornerstone for the future of the Middle East.
Herzog also wished Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu success on his visit to the US and his planned meeting with President Donald Trump.
Expansion of the Abraham Accords
It should be recalled that in 2020, Bahrain, along with the United Arab Emirates, joined the Abraham Accords, which envision the normalization of relations between Israel and Arab states. Morocco signed the agreement in December of that year, followed by Sudan in 2021.
In 2025, Donald Trump announced that Kazakhstan had agreed to join the accords. Furthermore, on July 23, the US president linked the signing of a civil nuclear energy agreement with Saudi Arabia to Riyadh's participation in the aforementioned agreement.
