The US government has lifted the ban on Anthropic's artificial intelligence models, "Fable 5" and "Mythos 5." The company will soon make these models available for global use and open access to them.
The US Department of Commerce had banned these models in mid-June. The government believed that these programs could be used for malicious purposes, such as cyberattacks. For this reason, Anthropic had blocked access to these models.
Later, some verified organizations in the US were allowed to use the "Mythos 5" model. Now, all restrictions have been lifted.
According to US media reports, this decision was made after the company strengthened its security protocols.
This incident indicates that the US government seeks to exert more control over the latest artificial intelligence technologies. Previously, similar rules were applied to OpenAI. The company had restricted the use of its new "GPT-5.6" model at the request of the US government.
Sam Altman, head of OpenAI, stated that it is crucial to verify the security of artificial intelligence systems. However, he believes that the state should not decide who uses new technologies.
