Moldova's Prime Minister Aleksandru Muntanu has announced his resignation from office. He justified his decision by stating that he could no longer carry out his duties in a manner consistent with his principles and values.

In a statement shared on social media, the Prime Minister said that he accepted this position with a strong sense of responsibility and confidence that he could contribute to positive changes in the country.

"Today I am ending my mandate as Prime Minister. I decided to resign when I realized that I can no longer fulfill my mandate based on the principles and beliefs I have remained faithful to."

Muntanu's resignation has also led to the government's resignation. According to the country's legislation, President Maia Sandu must propose a new candidate for the position of Prime Minister after consultations with parliamentary factions.

Moldova has been struggling in recent years with rising energy prices, high inflation, and economic difficulties. This situation has led to periodic protests in the country. The opposition, meanwhile, holds the Western-oriented government responsible for the crisis that has emerged.
