Four people were killed and 11 others were injured when a car crashed into several vehicles and people gathered on the roadside in the city of Mashhad, located in northeastern Iran.
Jnews.az reports, according to the Iranian traffic police, the incident occurred on Vakilabad Boulevard. A Hyundai Genesis driven by a driver aged approximately 35 first collided with a Suzuki Vitara vehicle, then crashed into people standing on the roadside.
According to police, the driver had a history of epileptic seizures and lost control of the vehicle during the accident as a result of a seizure. It was determined that he held a conditional driver’s license with special notes regarding medical restrictions.
It was also reported that the driver had no vision in his left eye and drove using only his right eye.
As a result of the accident, two women, one man, and a child aged approximately 9 died at the scene. The 11 injured people were taken to hospitals.
Denying some claims spreading on social networks, the Iranian police announced that the incident was not intentional and was not a security-related incident. Police stated that the accident occurred as a result of the driver losing control of the vehicle due to a sudden health problem.
