The National Hydrometeorology Service has announced that windy weather conditions will prevail across the country from the daytime of June 20 until June 22. The service's statement notes that yellow and orange-level wind warnings have been issued for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and a number of other regions.
The yellow warning covers the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and the districts of Barda, Tartar, Yevlakh, Aghdam, Aghcabadi, Beylagan, Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Khizi, Neftchala, Salyan, Saatli, Sabirabad, Imishli, Lankaran, Masally, Astara, Lerik, Yardimli, Jalilabad, Bilasuvar, Kalbajar, Lachin, Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Gazakh, Aghstafa, Tovuz, Shamkir, Gadabay, Goygol, Hajigabul, and Samukh. In these areas, easterly wind speeds will reach 13.9 to 20.7 metres per second.
The orange warning is associated with expectations of stronger winds and covers areas such as Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, Mingachevir, Ganja, Naftalan, Goranboy, and Dashkasan. In these regions, north-westerly wind speeds will intensify to between 20.8 m/s and 28.4 m/s.
