Russian forces struck a regional passenger train operating on the Dnipro–Zaporizhzhia route in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
Jnews.az reports that the incident occurred on the morning of September 8 near the town of Vilnyansk. According to reports, railway workers and a monitoring team detected the threat in advance and stopped the train in time. Passengers evacuated the train to a nearby mobile shelter.
Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, Chairman of the Management Board of Ukrzaliznytsia, stated that the train was hit by a direct strike. Preliminary reports indicate that no passengers were injured.
Rescue operations are ongoing following the attack. Contact has been lost with one of the train conductors. According to witnesses, the conductor returned to the train during the evacuation while the threat remained active. There is currently no official information regarding their fate.
