Azerbaijan, having the status of an independent state for 35 years, faced serious challenges at the beginning of its sovereign path. The first two years of independence were overshadowed by military conflict, occupation of territories, and a large-scale humanitarian crisis, as stated by President Ilham Aliyev.
These statements were made by the head of state during the opening ceremony of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, which will take place in 2026. This information was reported by AZERTAC agency.
The President also stressed that after overcoming the initial difficulties, the country successfully began to form stable development, which he called the foundation for the prosperity of any state. Ilham Aliyev emphasized that today Azerbaijan is characterized by sustainable political, economic, and social stability.
