Russia's latest massive missile attack on Ukraine last night has led to heightened security measures in Poland. The country's air defense forces were put on high alert, and fighter jets were scrambled.
According to the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, observation systems recorded the activity of Russian long-range aviation and numerous missiles launched towards Western Ukraine during the night.
According to the information, one of the missiles approached within approximately 5 kilometers of the Polish border. However, it changed its flight path before crossing the border and did not violate Polish airspace.
At the same time, an unidentified flying object of unknown origin was detected in Polish airspace. Following the incident, an F-16 fighter jet was scrambled to intercept it, but the object disappeared from radar screens before visual identification could be made.
Later, a Mi-24 military helicopter located the probable crash site of the unidentified object near the settlement of Tarnawa-Kolonia in the Lublin Voivodeship. Currently, military personnel, police, and emergency service workers are conducting an investigation at the scene.
Polish authorities state that they are keeping the situation under control. The origin of the unidentified object and whether the incidents recorded in the border region are connected to Russia's attack on Ukraine are being investigated.
