US President Donald Trump has signed a new executive order aimed at ensuring the security, reliability, and stability of the country's energy infrastructure.
Jnews.az reports that from now on, the procurement and installation of foreign-made energy equipment, as well as associated critical software and digital components that may pose a risk to national security, are being restricted.
The restrictions cover high-voltage transformers, inverters for solar and energy storage systems, generators, relay protection devices, and other electronic control equipment. These measures are intended to prevent potential vulnerabilities in these technologies from being used for cyberattacks or external interference against the US power grid.
In accordance with the order, the US Secretary of Energy, in cooperation with other relevant government agencies, will determine the operational conditions for foreign equipment already in use. At the same time, the ministry has been granted the authority to implement additional security measures regarding existing and future contracts.
