The Donald Trump administration has begun implementing a plan for the phased return of staff to US diplomatic missions in the Middle East that were evacuated or operated with reduced personnel amid the war with Iran.
Jnews.az reports that the return of part of the US diplomatic staff could begin as early as this week.
According to information, US diplomatic missions in Lebanon, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq are among the locations where staff will return. An increase in staff numbers is also planned for embassies in several other countries.
The US State Department stated that the security situation at the country’s diplomatic missions worldwide is continuously evaluated, and based on recent assessments, staffing at certain missions in the Middle East is being readjusted.
This step indicates that Washington believes the risk of the conflict with Iran escalating into a full-scale military confrontation in the near future has decreased. However, some embassies will not operate with full staff in the initial phase.
