The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken a decision to recall its ambassador to Russia for consultations regarding the crash and explosion of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on the territory of the republic.
According to the foreign ministry, this step was taken following the incident on August 9. The ministry assessed the event as a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
The incident was recorded in the settlement of Crocmaz in the Ștefan Vodă district, located on the country’s border with Ukraine. According to information released by the Moldovan police, the UAV that fell in the area exploded there.
No one was injured as a result of the incident. Law enforcement agencies stated that cases of detecting similar objects on the territory of Moldova had not been recorded previously.
An investigation is currently underway into the fact of the UAV crash and explosion.
