The Embassy of Israel in Azerbaijan has congratulated Sabah FC on its victory over Hapoel Beer Sheva in the UEFA Champions League play-off stage.
Jnews.az reports that the embassy described the match held in Baku as a magnificent night of football in a social media post.
In the post, Sabah was congratulated on their victory, while respect was expressed for Hapoel Beer Sheva for their competitiveness, tenacity, and determination until the final whistle.
While noting that Israeli fans had hoped for a different outcome, the embassy emphasized football’s power to bring people together.
“Great game, Sabah! Great respect to both teams!” the post stated.
It should be noted that in the second-leg match held in Baku on August 25, Sabah defeated Hapoel Beer Sheva 5:2 in extra time. The Azerbaijani representative advanced to the league stage of the UEFA Champions League with a 6:4 aggregate victory.
