Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam visited the village of Zawtar al-Gharbiyah, located in the south of the country, which has been placed under the control of the Lebanese Army as part of the agreement reached with Israel.
During the visit, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Lebanon's Minister of Defense Marse and other high-ranking government officials. Salam raised the Lebanese national flag in the village, symbolizing the transfer of the territory to state control.
The head of the Lebanese government stated that this step is only the beginning of a broader process. According to him, the government will continue its efforts toward the complete withdrawal of Israeli military forces from southern Lebanon.
Salam noted that preparations have begun to restore normal life in the region. According to him, the first phase involves restoring water, electricity, and communication services to meet the basic needs of the population, as well as providing housing and essential resources for the transition period.
“The return of life to the south is not just a slogan, but a national goal that the state is seriously implementing,” the Lebanese Prime Minister emphasized.
The village of Zawtar al-Gharbiyah is one of the first six “pilot zones” identified in southern Lebanon. The withdrawal of Israeli forces from these areas and the deployment of Lebanese Army units will be carried out within the framework of the implementation of the agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon with the mediation of the United States.
