The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have been placed on high alert due to fears of a surprise attack from Iran. The country's military leadership is assessing risks and taking measures to strengthen defenses in response to potential threats to the Israeli home front. This was reported by Walla military correspondent Amir Buhbut, citing sources within Israel's security establishment.

Preparations are being carried out in accordance with instructions from the political leadership. The decision was made following a meeting held on July 16 by Minister of Defense Israel Katz.

Risk assessment and expansion of the target bank

According to the assessment of Israeli specialists, Tehran is currently avoiding a direct strike on Israel, as it understands that the response would be more powerful and severe than before. However, the security establishment describes the coming days as critical. They are expected to show whether the U.S. will change the nature of its strikes on Iran and whether Tehran will continue to keep Israel out of the confrontation.

Sources from the publication report that in the time since the previous phase of the war, the IDF Military Intelligence Directorate has significantly expanded its target bank in Iran. The Air Force is preparing for a possible resumption of hostilities, taking into account new intelligence data.

International coordination

Walla sources noted that Israel has expanded cooperation with other countries in the region. The coordination mechanism with the U.S. is being maintained at the closest possible level to ensure a rapid transition from daily operations to emergency mode if necessary.

The U.S. Armed Forces continue to increase their presence in the Middle East, including by deploying refueling aircraft to Israeli airbases. Meanwhile, Iran is launching strikes against countries in the region, including Jordan, but has so far refrained from attacking Israel.
