The U.S. Department of Justice announced charges against five participants in a foiled FBI attack on the White House. The attack was scheduled to take place on June 14, during the celebration of U.S. President Donald Trump's 80th birthday.
Among those detained is 19-year-old Tysen Proper, who was arrested in Ohio on June 10. His mother informed law enforcement of his online contacts with an extremist group and his active purchase of weapons.
According to the Justice Department statement, Tysen was found with an arsenal of firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and information about potential targets, including numerous members of Congress. The discovered correspondence indicates radical religious beliefs and an aggressive anti-government agenda.
Other arrestees include 24-year-old Omar Roe, 32-year-old Michael Alan Thomas, 32-year-old Daniel Exridge, and 31-year-old Abraham Ermostillo Alvarez. They have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Arrests were made in four states: Ohio, California, Missouri, and Nebraska.
Investigation materials indicate that the suspects planned to launch drones with explosives at the White House lawn, where UFC Freedom 250 mixed martial arts fights were organized on Trump's birthday. The goal was to cause panic so that snipers could open fire on important targets.
