US President Donald Trump has announced an agreement that envisions the disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups operating in the Gaza Strip.
Trump stated that the deal was reached with the participation of the Board of Peace created by the US.
Details of the agreement have not been disclosed
As reported by the France 24 TV channel, the details of the deal and the mechanisms for its implementation have not yet been officially specified.
Donald Trump emphasized that following the complete conclusion of the disarmament process, Israeli troops will be withdrawn from the Gaza Strip.
According to him, control over the territory will be transferred to a newly created Palestinian government and local police forces. These structures will operate with the support of international stabilization forces.
Hamas condition: Israel must approve the agreement
Hamas official Ghazi Hamad told the Reuters agency that before the Palestinian side begins the implementation of the agreement, Israel must officially approve its phased implementation.
He noted that Israeli forces will not participate in the weapons confiscation process. This task will be undertaken by the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).
Phased withdrawal of the Israeli army is planned
According to the AFP agency, the agreement reached includes the gradual withdrawal of Israeli military forces from the Gaza Strip.
A meeting of international mediators, which will include representatives from the US, Qatar, and Turkey, is scheduled to take place in the coming days in Cairo. At the meeting, issues of the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire plan will be discussed.
