According to official data, the number of migrants illegally entering Ceuta in recent days has exceeded 49,000. For comparison, during the crisis in May 2021, slightly more than 10,000 migrants crossed the border.

Death toll reaches 19
According to reports, human casualties are also increasing among migrants trying to reach Ceuta by swimming. Based on the latest data, the number of people who died during the dangerous crossing has risen to 19.

France strengthens border control
Amid the possibility that the migration crisis could affect Europe, France has also initiated additional security measures.
French Interior Minister Nunez announced that control at the border with Spain will be strengthened.
«In addition, I have deployed rapid reaction forces to conduct comprehensive checks at the border,» the minister stated.
